  • Ensure public awareness, participation and transparency in policy decisions and improve communication between Air Quality Management Districts and communities they serve.

Over the last year, the Fresno County Department of Public Health (Department) has been working to incorporate air quality into community design.  The Department has used funding received from the CDPH California Breathing Program to support development and implementation of health language, with an emphasis on asthma-related language. Health language has been incorporated throughout the County’s General Plan elements with a focus on Physical Activity, Healthy Food Access and Air Quality.  To accomplish this, the Department coordinates a Priority Planning Collaborative consisting of representatives from local air quality district, city and county planning and transportation, and asthma coalitions.
