The City of San Francisco and Asian Neighborhood Design have released “The Materials Handbook: Guidelines for Sustainable Affordable Housing.” The Handbook offers knowledge about building materials and design strategies that have been used to create healthy, high-quality, and sustainable affordable housing in San Francisco and the Bay Area. The Handbook was written to facilitate the development of specifications, building plans, and maintenance protocols, which will extend the life of affordable housing developments, improve indoor air quality, and lower operating and maintenance costs.
