Study: Inner-city Asthma Linked to Diminished Air Quality

A survey recently published by the CDC found that African-American children were more likely to have been diagnosed with asthma. In addition, members of low-income families were 40% as likely to have been diagnosed with the disease than the non-poor. Researchers claim that genetics, lack of access to health care, urban pollution, and second-hand smoke rates are all possible causes of these disparities.
